Frequently Asked Questions

Dystopia Punk is a co-op cyberpunk action game about taking dangerous contracts, infiltrating hostile locations, adapting your loadout, and getting out alive when the job inevitably goes sideways.

Dystopia Punk is currently a solo project by Mike Wuetherick, a 25+ year veteran of the game industry (Unity, Namco Bandai, others).  Reallusion posted an article about Mike's background and the game we have mirrored here:

The game is being built around 1-4 player co-op. You can take on contracts with friends, coordinate approaches, and build your squad around different roles and equipment.

Yes. The game is designed around co-op, but solo play is part of the plan. Some objectives, encounters, and loadout choices may feel different depending on whether you are playing alone or with a squad.

Each contract sends you into a dense cyberpunk location with a specific objective: recon, infiltration, hacking, theft, sabotage, extraction, or survival. The job starts controlled, but things can escalate into combat, pursuit, and emergency extraction.

Both. You can sneak, hack, observe, and plan your route - but if the situation collapses, you need to fight your way out. The fantasy is less “perfect stealth only” and more professional operators adapting when the plan breaks.

No. Dystopia Punk is focused on crafted mission spaces rather than a huge open world. The goal is dense, replayable locations with multiple routes, objectives, factions, and escalation paths.

Contracts can change through objective placement, patrols, routes, enemy pressure, weather/time-of-day variation, faction presence, and extraction flow. The goal is for the same mission space to support different approaches across multiple runs.

It leans into dirty neon streets, corporate violence, underground fixers, private security, hacked infrastructure, black-market tech, and crews trying to survive inside a system that treats people like disposable hardware.

Not rigid classes. The direction is more about loadouts, gear, cyberware-style capacity, and mission roles. Players build around what they bring into the contract: weapons, tools, hacks, sensors, mobility, survivability, and team utility.

Your operator can only carry and interface with so much gear. The plan is to make loadouts immediately readable through slots/capacity, while still allowing interesting combinations and tradeoffs.

Yes. Hacking is planned as a core interaction layer: doors, devices, credentials, cameras, terminals, comms, data extraction, and alternate ways to gather intel or solve objectives.

The current focus is co-op PvE: players versus security forces, gangs, corporate operators, drones, automated systems, and mission escalation.

Dystopia Punk is currently in development for PC for launch on Steam initially. More platform details will be announced as development progresses.
